Rwandan Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Ngabitsinze Jean Chrysostome is today participating in the 2nd AfCFTA ministerial retreat and extraordinary council of ministers meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting is preceded by a private sector dialogue to exchange ideas with businesses on how to fast-track the implementation of the AfCFTA.
On the sidelines of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers retreat and extraordinary meeting, Rwandan Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Ngabitsinze Jean Chrysostome met with his counterpart, Moses Kuria, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry in Kenya.

Discussions centered on alignment in advancing AfCFTA opportunities as countries and within the EAC. Ministers also discussed on matters improving bilateral trade between Rwanda and Kenya.
The retreat and extraordinary meeting will seek to conclude outstanding negotiations, establish an AfCFTA implementation matrix, and consider new tariff offers from state parties.
As a reminder, 47 members have ratified the AfCFTA. Over 40 countries have verified tariff offers, and the Guided Trade Initiative is demonstrating that trade under the AfCFTA is taking place.
